I started getting interested in fitness and nutrition 20 years ago after
the birth of my second child. I was overweight, feeling frumpy and
verging on high cholesterol and diabetes. With a not so desirable family
history, I saw myself going nowhere quickly. I started walking,
quickly fell in love with exercising and soon began my running career.
As my body and health started to improve, my outlook did as well. I was
hit hard with the passion and have never looked back. I wanted to
become a trainer to help others go through the same transformation that
I did. To help them realize that they have control over their lives
and empower them to take that control to live a long and healthy life.
Once my kids were raised, I realized it was time to make that move.
I made the decision to move my
personal training business home and take a more one-on-one approach to
my training. I love the gym, don't get me wrong! I love the atmosphere, I
love the people, I love the sweat and I love the sounds (grunts, weight
clacking and barbells dropping): but I understand that this is not for
everyone. Gyms can be very overwhelming and intimidating. They can also
be an incredible strain on the pocket book - especially if you want to
have personal training. I wanted to take a different approach and start
training people to become exercise independent. You don't have to have a
ton of equipment, or spend a weeks paycheck, to get into great shape
and change your life. What you do need is know how and understanding on
how exercise and diet work: that's where I come in!
In
a session with me you will not only get a great workout, but you will
learn the why's and how's on what you are doing. I will be educating you
on exercise as we go along so that eventually you will feel confident
to exercise on your own, whether that be in a gym or in your own home.
We will be working out in a small, private gym that I have built right
at my home, so there will be no one else around to watch you sweat. You
can make mistakes, learn and grow all without the audience of an entire
gym.
We
will also talk quite a bit about diet, and how that plays a part in
your fitness/weight loss goals. Exercise is only a small portion of the
equation. Like the saying goes - great abs are made in the kitchen, not
in the gym.
Let's get going today! Procrastination not only puts off the work, it also puts off the results. You can achieve those results, you just have to get started.
